Greenhouse lets you add a candidate to a job, send them a Wonderlic assessment, and read the results without leaving the candidate's profile. This article walks the whole path, from creating the candidate to opening the finished results.
Before you start
This only works on jobs that have a Wonderlic V2 stage in their interview plan. If you do not see a Wonderlic stage on the job, ask your Greenhouse admin to add it, or read Greenhouse | Add the Wonderlic Select v2 Stage to a Greenhouse Job to learn how.
Add a candidate to an existing job
Add a candidate directly to an existing job by navigating to the job details.
In left menu bar, click Candidates, then click Add Candidate.
Leave Candidate for a job selected.
The Job field is auto-populated with the job.
Set the Initial Stage. Choose the first stage of the pipeline if you want to review the candidate before assessing them. Choose the Wonderlic V2 stage if you want to assess them right away.
Complete all required fields, including candidate's First name, Last name, and Email address. Feel free to enter any other optional information.
Scroll to the bottom and click Add this candidate.
Send the Wonderlic assessment
Sending the assessment takes two separate actions. First you move the candidate into the Wonderlic V2 stage, then you send the test from that stage.
Moving the candidate does not send the assessment, unless rules have been applied to the stage to do so.
Read Greenhouse | Automatically Send an Assessment When Moving a Candidate to the Wonderlic Select v2 Stage to learn more about automated test stage rules.
Move the candidate into the Wonderlic stage
On the candidate's profile, click Move stage.
2. Click the Wonderlic V2 stage.
Send the test
In the Submitted tests section, click Send test to candidate.
Check the To address. Greenhouse fills this from the candidate's profile
Pick All Assessments from the Test list.
Pick a grader under Who should grade it? This is the person Greenhouse reminds to complete the scorecard once results are back.
Leave When to send email set to Now, or schedule it for later.
Click Send test.
Sending the test prompts a success message 'Take home test sent'.
View results
Results come back into Greenhouse on their own once the candidate finishes the assessment. There are two places to read them: a summary inside Greenhouse, and the full Wonderlic results.
Read the full breakdown in the interview kit
The interview kit holds the complete set of results Wonderlic sent back, without leaving Greenhouse.
On the candidate's profile, click Go to interview kit.
You will see the overall fit interpretation, plus a separate interpretation and score for cognitive ability, motivation, and personality. Each one also carries a retest warning field.
Open the full Wonderlic results
The interview kit gives you the access code you need to open the results.
In the interview kit, copy the Access Code.
Click View Report. Wonderlic opens in a new tab and asks for the code.
Enter the access code and click Log in.
The results open on Overall Fit. Use the list on the left to move between overall fit, cognitive ability, personality, motivation, and all fit scores. Download Results saves a copy.
What to expect
Moving the stage and sending the test are separate steps. This catches people out most often. If a candidate never receives an invite, check whether the stage still reads "Test needs to be sent to candidate."
Read Greenhouse | Automatically Send an Assessment When Moving a Candidate to the Wonderlic Select v2 Stage to learn more about automated test stage rules.
A grader is required even though Wonderlic scores the assessment. The grader does not score anything. Greenhouse uses that person for the scorecard reminder once results arrive.
A score of 0 usually means the assessment is not finished. Greenhouse shows 0 next to the assessment name until the candidate submits. Once they do, the real score replaces it.
The access code is per candidate. Each candidate's results have their own code on their own interview kit. A code from one candidate will not open another candidate's results.
Some results open with a retest recommendation. When Wonderlic flags a result as unusual, a banner appears at the top of the results explaining why. The interview kit shows the same thing as a retest warning field. Contact Wonderlic Support if you are unsure how to act on one.
Adding a candidate does not notify them. The candidate hears nothing until you send the assessment.
FAQ
Can I put a candidate straight into the Wonderlic stage?
Yes. Set Initial Stage to the Wonderlic V2 stage on the Add a Candidate form. You still need to send the test from the candidate's profile afterwards.
The candidate says they never got the email. What now?
Open the candidate's profile and check the Wonderlic stage for the last sent date. Confirm the email address on the profile is right, ask the candidate to check their spam folder, then send the test again.
Can I send the assessment to more than one candidate at a time?
Yes. Select the candidates from the job's candidate list and use Bulk Actions to move them into the Wonderlic stage, then send each test from the individual profiles. If stage rules have been applied for the test to send automatically, the individual step can be skipped.
Read Greenhouse | Automatically Send an Assessment When Moving a Candidate to the Wonderlic Select v2 Stage to learn more about automated test stage rules.
How long do results take to appear?
Results post back to Greenhouse shortly after the candidate submits. If a completed assessment is not showing after a while, contact Wonderlic Support.
