A stage transition rule in Greenhouse sends the Wonderlic Select assessment for you. Once the rule is in place, moving a candidate to the Wonderlic Select v2 stage sends their invitation right away, with no extra click on the candidate profile.
Overview
Stage transition rules are set up per job. You create the rule once on a job, and it runs every time a candidate on that job moves into the stage. You can then copy the rule to your other jobs.
You need Job Admin access to the job to edit its stage transitions. The job's interview plan must already include the Wonderlic Select v2 stage.
Create the rule
Open the job in Greenhouse and click Job Setup in the left menu.
Click Stage Transitions.
Click Create a rule.
Under When a candidate moves to a stage, open the Stage dropdown and choose Wonderlic Select v2.
If Wonderlic Select v2 is not in the list, the stage has not been added to this job yet. Add it under Interview Plan, then come back to this step.

Under Then, open the Action dropdown and choose Send Take Home Test. Wonderlic Select is delivered to Greenhouse as a take home test, so this is the action that sends the assessment.
Choose the 'User credited with this action' setting you'd like.
Leave When to send set to Immediately.
Scroll down to the email section. The From, CC recipients and Subject fields are read only, and the test name comes from the stage's Interview Kit, so no changes are needed here.
Enter custom email content, as desired. This step is not required- a default Wonderlic Select invitation will be sent.
Click Save.
You return to Stage Transition Rules and see Successfully saved rule. The new rule is listed under Wonderlic Select v2 with the trigger Moved to Stage and the action Send Take Home Test.
Copy the rule to other jobs
To use the same rule on other jobs, click Copy to other jobs on the Stage Transition Rules page and choose the jobs. Each job you copy to needs the Wonderlic Select v2 stage in its interview plan.
What to expect
The assessment goes out when the candidate moves. Moving a candidate to Wonderlic Select v2 sends their Wonderlic Select invitation right away. You do not need to send it from the candidate profile.
FAQ
Do I need to create the rule on every job?
Yes. Rules belong to a single job. Use Copy to other jobs to add the same rule to several jobs at once.
What about candidates who were already in the stage before I created the rule?
The rule runs only when a candidate moves into the stage. Candidates already sitting in Wonderlic Select v2 are not sent the assessment automatically. Send it to them from their candidate profile.
Can I still send the assessment by hand?
Yes. The rule adds an automatic send. You can still send the assessment from the candidate profile.
I do not see Stage Transitions in Job Setup. What now?
Editing stage transitions requires permission to edit the job. Ask a Greenhouse admin on your account to create the rule or update your access.
