Connecting Greenhouse to Wonderlic Select takes two secure credential handoffs. Wonderlic gives you an API key that Greenhouse uses to turn on the Wonderlic Select integration, and you give Wonderlic Harvest v3 API credentials so Wonderlic can connect to your Greenhouse account. Your Wonderlic Customer Success Manager (CSM) works with you through each step.
Overview
Here is the full sequence. Each step is explained below.
Your Wonderlic CSM sends you your Wonderlic API key.
You ask Greenhouse Support to enable the Wonderlic Select integration and share the API key with them securely.
You create Harvest v3 API credentials in Greenhouse.
You share those credentials with Wonderlic through a secure link.
Wonderlic finishes the setup and confirms your integration is complete.
To create API credentials, your Greenhouse user needs to be a Site Admin or have the developer permission Manage ALL organization's API Credentials. If you are not sure, ask a Site Admin at your company to check before you start.
Step 1: Get your Wonderlic API key
Your Wonderlic CSM sends you a Wonderlic API key through a secure link, such as SendSafely. This key is unique to your account. Keep it somewhere safe until you share it with Greenhouse Support in the next step.
Your CSM will also agree with you on how you will send your Greenhouse credentials back in Step 4. Wonderlic uses SendSafely by default, and your CSM can set up another secure option if your company requires one.
Step 2: Ask Greenhouse Support to enable the integration
Greenhouse turns on assessment integrations such as Wonderlic Select for your organization. Greenhouse describes this process in Set up an assessment API integration.
Open a ticket with Greenhouse Support and ask them to enable the Wonderlic Select assessment integration.
Do not include your Wonderlic API key in the ticket. Greenhouse Support replies with a SendSafely link if they need it.
Enter your Wonderlic API key in the SendSafely link from Greenhouse Support.
Wait for the confirmation email from Greenhouse Support. Greenhouse may ask you to verify your account first.
Step 3: Create Harvest v3 API credentials
In Greenhouse, click the Configure icon (the gear) in the top right of the navigation bar.
In the left menu, click Dev Center, then API Credential Management.
On the Harvest v3 (OAuth) tab, click Create new API credentials.
The note on this tab mentions Connected Integrations. You do not need that page for Wonderlic Select. Wonderlic connects with the Harvest v3 credentials you create here.
When creating the new credential:
Set API type to Harvest V3 (OAuth).
Enter a Description your team will recognize later, such as Wonderlic Select.
Click View and store credentials.
Copy the Client key and the Client secret and store them somewhere secure before clicking I have stored the client credentials.
Greenhouse shows the client secret only once. Copy both values before you close this window. If you close it without copying them, you will need to create a new set of credentials.
Step 4: Share your credentials with Wonderlic securely
Send both the Client key and the Client secret to your Wonderlic CSM through SendSafely or the other secure link you agreed on in Step 1.
Never send credentials in a regular email, a chat message or a support ticket. A secure link keeps them out of inboxes and chat history.
Step 5: Wonderlic confirms your setup
Wonderlic uses your credentials to connect your Greenhouse account to Wonderlic Select. Your CSM lets you know when the integration setup is complete.
After that, you can start using Wonderlic Select in Greenhouse:
Add the Wonderlic Select v2 stage to your jobs.
Read Greenhouse | Add the Wonderlic Select v2 Stage to a Greenhouse Job to see how to add the Wonderlic Select v2 stage.
Send the assessment automatically when candidates reach the stage.
Read Greenhouse | Automatically Send an Assessment When Moving a Candidate to the Wonderlic Select v2 Stage to learn about automatically sending an assessment from the Wonderlic Select v2 stage.
FAQ
Why are there two different keys?
The Wonderlic API key lets Greenhouse turn on the Wonderlic Select integration for your organization. The Harvest v3 credentials let Wonderlic connect to your Greenhouse account.
I do not see API Credential Management in Dev Center. What now?
Your Greenhouse user needs to be a Site Admin or have the developer permission Manage ALL organization's API Credentials. Greenhouse does not let you view your own detailed permissions, so ask a Site Admin at your company to check your user under Configure > Users.
I closed the window before copying the client secret. What now?
Create a new set of Harvest v3 credentials using the same steps, and send the new values to your CSM.
Can I email the credentials to my CSM instead?
No. Always use SendSafely or another secure link your CSM has agreed to. This protects access to your Greenhouse data.
