If your account has one or more custom scoring profiles available, you can apply a Custom Scoring Profile to an opening imported from your ATS, that does not already have a scoring profile.
Overview
A Custom Scoring Profile (also referred to as 'Tailored Scoring Profile) is built for a specific role at your organization. It reflects what actually predicts success in that role at your company.
When automatic matching is turned off for your account, every opening created from your ATS waits for you to assign a profile (talk to your Wonderlic Customer Success Manager to learn more!).
Candidates can still be invited and can still complete their assessments while an opening waits. What waits is the scoring: results are not calculated and are not sent to your ATS until a profile is assigned.
You need edit or admin access to the opening when adding the profile via login/in app. If Wonderlic Select emailed you asking to assign a profile, the link in that email works even without a Wonderlic Select login.
Find the openings waiting for a profile
On your dashboard, any opening that needs a scoring profile is flagged in red. The Total column still counts every candidate added to the opening, but the Active Candidates buckets stay greyed out until a profile is assigned and results are calculated.
You will also get an email each time an opening is created without a profile. It names the opening and links straight to profile selection.
Assign a Custom Scoring Profile from your dashboard
Click a flagged opening on your dashboard.
In the Assign a scoring profile message, click Continue.
Open the Custom Scoring Profile dropdown at the top of the page and choose the profile for this role.
Click Next.
Your Custom Scoring Profiles appear at the top of the page. Once you select one, the Search by Job Title field below is no longer required. That section is there for roles that do not have a custom profile yet, where you would search the Jobs Engine by job title instead.
Review the profile under Review Wonderlic Scoring Profile. This shows the detail defined for the role, including the skills, performance indicators and behaviors it scores against.
Click Assign Scoring Profile, or Back to choose a different one.
On Job Opening Details, check the Job Opening Name and the job opening settings. The job title from your ATS is read-only.
Click Save.
You land back on the dashboard. The opening is no longer flagged, its Active Candidates buckets are live, and it now carries a Custom tag so you can see at a glance which openings use a Custom Scoring Profile.
Assign a Custom Scoring Profile from the email link
The email link opens the same profile selection screens without asking you to sign in, so it works for people on your team who do not have a Wonderlic Select login. Your Custom Scoring Profiles are available there too.
Open the email from Wonderlic Select and click the link to assign a profile.
The link works once and stays valid for 48 business hours after it is sent. If it has expired, ask an administrator on your account to assign the profile from the dashboard instead.
Choose your Custom Scoring Profile from the Custom Scoring Profile dropdown.
Click Next.
Review the profile under Review Wonderlic Scoring Profile, then click Assign Scoring Profile.
Check the Job Opening Name, then click Save.
Follow Job Opening is not offered here, because following an opening requires a Wonderlic Select login. Send Candidate Feedback Report works the same as it does in the app.
When you save, you land on a confirmation page rather than the dashboard. You can close the window, or click Back to Login if you do have a Wonderlic Select account login.
What to expect
Candidates are scored as soon as you save. Everyone who already finished testing gets their full results against your custom profile, and you get a results-ready email for them now rather than when they originally finished.
Partly finished candidates get partial results. Scores are calculated for the assessments they have completed. You will not get a results-ready email for them until they finish.
Every new opening needs a profile. Because automatic matching is off for your account, each opening your ATS creates arrives flagged and waits for you. Assigning a profile to one opening does not carry over to the next.
The Custom tag tells you which profile was used. Openings assigned a Custom Scoring Profile show a Custom tag on the dashboard. Openings assigned a profile through Jobs Engine search do not.
FAQ
Why do none of my openings match a profile automatically?
Your account is set up that way on purpose, so that your team chooses the profile for each role rather than accepting an automatic match. This is what lets you apply your Custom Scoring Profiles to openings that come from your ATS.
Can candidates test while an opening is waiting for a profile?
Yes. Candidates can be invited, start, and finish their assessments as normal. Only the scoring waits.
Will I lose results for candidates who tested before I assigned the profile?
No. Their assessment data is stored the whole time. Assigning a profile scores it.
What if a role does not have a Custom Scoring Profile yet?
Use the Search Scoring Profiles section below the dropdown to search the Jobs Engine by job title. A specific job title returns the most accurate profile.
Can I add more Custom Scoring Profiles?
Contact your Wonderlic representative. Custom Scoring Profiles are built through a job analysis with your subject matter experts or a local validation study using your own performance data.
What if I assign the wrong profile?
On the review step, click Back to choose again before you assign. If you have already saved, contact support.
I do not have a Wonderlic Select login. Can I still assign a profile?
Yes, using the link in the email. It opens the same screens without asking you to sign in.
The link in my email does not work. What now?
Each link works once and expires 48 business hours after it is sent. Ask an administrator on your account to assign the profile from the dashboard, or contact support.
