Track Development Progress and Reflections in Action Planner

We’ve added new ways to highlight growth in the Action Planner. Employees can share progress updates as they work on an action item and add a reflection once it’s complete.

Why it matters

This change brings more visibility to development milestones. By showing reflections alongside other progress markers, employees can better see what they’ve achieved, while managers, coaches, and admins gain richer context into actual outcomes.

Here’s what you can expect

  • A unified progress updates timeline that shows every milestone, step, and reflection

  • A new timeline entry labeled “What I learned from this action item”, appearing right after “Marked as Completed”

  • The ability to add or edit entries anytime, with updates syncing automatically to the action details view

You can now:

  • Track and celebrate development progress throughout an action item, not just at completion

  • Encourage employees to reflect on what they’ve learned as they reach milestones or finish tasks

  • Use shared reflections and updates to make 1:1s, reviews, and coaching conversations more forward-focused

How to do it:

To add a Progress Update:

  1. Open the Action Planner and select the action item.

  2. Open the progress updates tab.

  3. Write a short note about a step, milestone, or insight.

  4. Select save.

  5. Your update appears immediately in the progress updates timeline.

To add a reflection when you complete an action item:

  1. Open the action item and select mark as completed.

  2. Open the action details tab, and add your reflection in the “what I learned from this action item” field.

  3. Select save.

  4. Your reflection appears right after the completion entry in the progress updates timeline

  • Employees get a clearer picture of their development journey, making it easier to track impact and celebrate growth

  • Managers gain insight into both activity and learning, supporting stronger coaching and follow-up

  • Coaches and Admins can see real outcomes of development and identify where to provide additional support
