Use onsite testing to have a candidate complete their assessment in person, on a device you control, instead of sending them an email invitation.
Available to Owners, Admins, and Users with permission to test candidates in the opening.
How onsite testing works
Instead of emailing an invitation, you start an onsite testing session and get a unique access code for that candidate. The candidate opens the Wonderlic testing portal on your testing device and enters the code to begin. You can start a session for a new candidate or an existing one. Once it is active, you can open a printable set of onsite testing instructions made just for that candidate.
Start an onsite testing session
You can start an onsite session while adding a new candidate, or for a candidate who is already in the opening.
For a new candidate
Open the job opening.
Next to Send Invitation, open the dropdown and select Test Onsite.
Enter the candidate's first name, last name, and email.
Select Test Onsite.
Wonderlic Select adds the candidate and starts their onsite session. No email is sent to the candidate.
For an existing candidate
Open Manage Invitations for the candidate. Go to their results, open the overflow menu (the three dots in the top right), then choose Manage Invitations.
Select Test Onsite.
Test Onsite creates the session and generates the candidate's unique nine-character access code.
Share the access code
Once a session is active, open Manage Invitations for the candidate. The Onsite section shows a link to the Wonderlic testing portal and the candidate's Access Code, a nine-character code shown as XXX-XXX-XXX. Each code is unique to the candidate and makes sure their results are recorded correctly.
Choose the testing device
Decide which device the candidate will use before they start.
The same device you used to set up the session
Log out of your Wonderlic Select account before the candidate begins so they cannot access your account or your other candidates' data.
Then open the testing portal, enter the candidate's access code, and hand off the device.
The candidate's own device
Point the candidate to the testing portal on their own phone, tablet, or computer, then have them enter their access code. To make that easy, scan or print the QR code below. It opens the testing portal directly.
The testing portal link and QR code are the same for every candidate. Only the access code is unique. Bookmark or print them once and reuse them for every onsite session.
Open and print onsite testing instructions
When a candidate has an active onsite session, Manage Invitations shows an Onsite Testing Instructions link.
Open Manage Invitations for the candidate.
Select Onsite Testing Instructions.
The instructions open in a new tab, personalized for that candidate, with the job opening, the access code, and step-by-step directions for getting the candidate into their assessment. It is a clean page you can display on the testing device or print for a proctor. To print, select Print Instructions and use your browser's print dialog.
What to expect
Only one onsite session can be active per candidate at a time. Other invitation actions stay available while an onsite session is active.
The candidate always enters the access code to start. The testing portal link goes to the general sign-in page, not straight into their assessment.
The instructions page opens only while you are signed in to Wonderlic Select. It is for you to run the session, not a link to send to the candidate.

How does the candidate start their assessment?
Open the Wonderlic testing portal on your testing device and have the candidate enter their access code. The code is on the candidate's Onsite section in Manage Invitations, and on their onsite testing instructions page.
Where do I find the access code?
Open Manage Invitations for the candidate. The Onsite section shows the access code as XXX-XXX-XXX, along with the testing portal link. It is also on the onsite testing instructions page.
Can the candidate test on their own device?
Yes. Send them to the testing portal, they can scan or print the QR code in this article to get there, and have them enter their access code. If they will use the same device you set the session up on, log out of Wonderlic Select first so they cannot access your account.
Can I print the instructions for each candidate?
Yes. Open Onsite Testing Instructions from Manage Invitations, then select Print Instructions. The instructions are personalized for that candidate, including their access code.
Does onsite testing send the candidate an email?
No. Onsite testing is for in-person testing, so no invitation email is sent. If you would rather email the candidate a link, use Send Invitation instead.
Can I have more than one onsite session active at the same time?
No. Only one onsite session can be active per candidate at a time. Once the active session is completed or expires, you can start a new one.
