Your Wonderlic Develop results give you insight into how you work and grow. This guide shows you how to bring those insights into your next 1:1 so your conversation with your manager feels more meaningful, practical, and growth-focused.

Before Your 1:1

Choose one attribute that feels meaningful to your growth right now

  • Pick something that stands out as a growth edge, a current challenge, or a strength you want to lean on

Pro Tip: Pick a trait that feels especially relevant to your role or a project you’re focused on right now

Reflect briefly

Ask yourself questions such as:

  • How does this show up in my day-to-day work?

  • What feels energizing or draining about it?

  • How is this attribute helping or holding me back right now?

  • Does this attribute connect to feedback I have received in the past?

  • How might this trait support (or interfere with) my long-term career goals?

  • What’s one small shift I could make to use this attribute more effectively?

Draft 1-2 questions for your manager

Examples:

  • “Where have you noticed this showing up in my work?”

  • “What advice or steps could I take to grow in this area?”

  • “Are there times you’ve seen this help me or get in my way?”

  • “What’s one thing I could try differently that might make an impact?”

  • “How can I use this strength more to support my work?”

During Your 1:1

Share your insight

“One trait that feels important for me right now is [X]. Here’s why it stands out.”

Pro Tip: Don’t overthink it - sharing one reflection can spark a valuable conversation

Ask for feedback

  • Use your reflection as a jumping-off point to invite your manager’s perspective

  • Bring one or two of your questions into the conversation and listen for examples

Connect it to your goals

  • Together, explore how this ties to upcoming projects, role expectations, or growth priorities

  • Keep the focus on your growth, not just discussion

Co-create a next step

  • Agree on a small, clear action or shift you will try and define what success looks like

  • Decide how you’ll track progress together and when you will check-in to revisit progress

"Based on this, I’m thinking about [a small goal or next step]. I’d like to align that with what you see as a priority - what do you think?"

After Your 1:1

Write down the action you agreed on

Capture the “what,” the “why,” and the first step you’ll take

Pro Tip: Use the Action Planner document and track your goal

Check in with yourself

  • Revisit your action weekly and notice progress, challenges, or changes in how it feels

  • Ask yourself: What’s getting easier? What still feels challenging?

Plan to revisit

Bring it back in your next 1:1:

  • “Here’s what I tried…”

  • “Here’s what I learned…”

  • “Here’s where I could use more support.”

  • “What’s one adjustment you think I should make going forward?”

This guide helps you use your Wonderlic Develop results to prepare for a more focused, growth-oriented 1:1 with your manager by identifying a meaningful trait, reflecting on how it shows up at work, and co-creating an actionable next step together.
